PROGRAM OUTLINE

  

DRAMA SUMMER CAMP 2025

It’s designed to foster confidence, teamwork, self-expression, and a love for performing arts

Drama Summer Camp Program Outline

Theme: "Unleash Your Inner Star"

1. Welcome and Orientation (Day 1)

  • Icebreakers and      Introductions
    • Fun activities  to help campers and instructors get acquainted.
    • Name games,       "two truths and a lie," and creative improv games.
  • Camp Overview
    • Introduction       to the schedule, goals, and expectations.
    • Discuss the       importance of teamwork, creativity, and mutual respect.
  • Tour of the      Space
    • Familiarize       campers with rehearsal rooms, costume areas, and performance spaces.

2. Daily Warm-Up Routine (Every Day)

  • Physical      warm-ups: Stretching, relaxation techniques, and movement exercises.
  • Vocal warm-ups:      Breathing exercises, tongue twisters, and projection drills.
  • Team-building      games: Trust falls, group storytelling, or ensemble exercises.
  • Local actors,      directors, or theater professionals give masterclasses.
  • Interactive      Q&A sessions to inspire campers and answer career-related questions

Week 1

3. Thematic Workshops

a. Acting Techniques 

  • Basics: Body      language, voice modulation, and character building.
  • Focus:      Confidence-building activities like monologues and skits.
  • Improvisation:      "Yes, And" games, scene-building, and on-the-spot acting.

b. Storytelling & Playwriting (Warm-up exercises) 

  • Story      structure: Exploring plot, conflict, and resolution.
  • Collaborative      writing: Groups create their own short plays.
  • Creative      journaling: Using prompts to inspire personal storytelling.
  • Dance and      choreography: Introduction to basic movements and stage flow.
  • Mime and      physical theater: Expressing without words.
  • Blocking and      stage directions: Learning the basics of spatial awareness.

Week 2

4. Performance Preparation Rehearsals: Dedicated time to finalize group performances.

  • Stagecraft:      Lighting, sound, and behind-the-scenes coordination,  with costumes and props.

c. Costume and Prop Design 

  • Costume workshops:      Campers explore costumes or props for their plays.
  • Creative reuse:      Upcycling everyday items into stage materials.
  • Movement and      Stage Presence. 

Week 3

Adding lighting and sound effects

Full Dress Rehearsal

Practicing lines, cues, and scene transitions with costumes and props.

6. Closing 

  • Reflection:      Campers share what they've learned and their favorite moments.

Farewell Party: Snacks, music, and a group photo to commemorate the experience

7. Grand Finale Showcase (Last Day June 29)

  • Theme: "Spotlight      on Talent."
  • Performances: 
  • Awards &      Certificates

Daily Schedule: 

10:00 – 10:30   Warm-up exercises (physical and vocal).

10:30 – 12:30   Core workshop session (e.g., acting, singing, dancing).

12:30 – 1:15 Lunch break.

1:15 – 2:15 Group activities or rehearsals. 

2:15 – 3:00  Snack Clean-up, and Dismissal.
